Sleep Apnea and International Traveling...

Has anyone had any experience with taking your Sleep Apnea machine on board for international flights?

Yann and I will be flying internationally next month and I want to make sure I'm not going to have any issues.

Oh, btw, Hi Journal People!

omg, he lives!

freak! Say hi to me this weekend... if you're out and about.

Hi! How heavy is your machine and who are you flying with? In general as long as you have it stored in a good box and it is taped up you should be OK. Again though that depends on the individual rules of the airline. I still have some connections in the Airline Industry and could check on that with a phone call to make sure everything will be alright with some of the new regulations out there.

This Journal Person doesn't know who Yann is, a new bf? If so congratulations!

wow where have you been? lol

Screeners seem to know what a CPAP is these days (there was a time when they always did a bomb test swab on the luggage it was in). I have a web page printout describing my unit in my luggage, just in case.

I would be more concerned about power issues... 220 volts vs. 110, 50 Hz vs. 60.

I once plugged mine into the wrong outlet (one controlled by an X10 dimmer switch which was pseudo-DC), and blew the fuse in the CPAP... had to run all over town to find a replacement fuse (and this was the day of a vacation trip).
